Dude, don't call me Dude

We all know them. That person that uses 'Dude' for everyone and everything. Dude for hello..dude for goodbye..dude for what's up..dude for what the hell. Dude for their friends, dude for their kids, and dude for their other half.

And the last one is what bothers me the most. I was watching LA Ink the other day and Kat Von D is an absolute abuser of the word Dude. In one scene she was talking to her then boyfriend Nikki what's his face and she kept calling him Dude. And I would wrinkle my nose every time. It seems to be more the girl calling the guy Dude. I don't hear many husbands calling their wives Dude. I just don't like it. To me, it relegates that relationship to something less meaningful.

I don't call Jeremy Dude and he doesn't call me Dude. But he does call me Woman..and I like it. Other people might wrinkle their nose at that so I guess to each their own. I like it because that is what I am..I am not just a Dude to him, although we are very good friends (which is a plus when you are married), I am his woman. Which is why only Jeremy can call me woman. I know it seems a little caveman-ish. But I kinda like being claimed...as more than just Dude.

Love+Hope+Happiness=Miracle

A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person. ~Mignon McLaughlin

I love weddings. There is something so very powerful about being in that almost silent moment of the bride and groom holding hands, staring into each others eyes, making all sort of promises with their words and their hearts. Being at a wedding makes me have hope for the world. It can't all be so bad when there is this..all this hope and love filling up a room.

My best friend, Jennifer, got married this last weekend. It was beautiful, intimate, sweet, hopeful, and full of love. So much love that I could hardly keep myself from crying through the entire evening...even after the actual wedding was done. My heart was..and is..so full of love for them and hope for their future.

Watching them together, I can see what a good match they are. Jennifer has never been the type to need a man to take care of everything. She is pretty independent and capable of handling the normal day to day tasks. But there is just something about having someone..someone good..around you every day to help shoulder the load. She smiles so much easier now. And Josh is just a bunch of nice. A little scatterbrained in the most adorable way, but absolutely dependable where and when it counts.

He is a good man.

She is a good woman.

And they found each other. In this big, crazy, sometimes ugly world we live in two people found each other and made something good.

Which is a miracle. A true to goodness miracle. A beautiful, lovely, hopeful, happy miracle.

Hissy Fit

So, I found out yesterday that I didn't get that totally awesome package at work.

*sigh*

Right now, I know that everything is going to be ok.

I know that I still have a good paying job, and that alone is something to be thankful for.

I know I still have good insurance for my family.

I know that I will continue to go to work.

I know I will keep doing the same thing I've been doing for the last 12 years.

I know that its probably for the best.

But I don't have to like it.

*pout...huff...stomp*

The Sound Track of My Life

Music is what life sounds like. ~Eric Olson

One night, a few weeks ago, Jeremy had a friend over for a football draft and after it was done they moved to the living room to watch Metalocalypse. It was later in the evening, so I had already gone to bed although I could hear them out in the living room. I remembered something I wanted to tell Jeremy so I called him back to the bedroom. And when he got back there the first question was 'Is the TV too loud?'. The reason I called him didn't have anything to do with the noise level, which I reassured him of.

When he went back to the living room and I laid back down I had to smile. It was nice of him to ask if I was being bothered but at the same time I wanted to remind him of who I was married to. Heavy metal has always been in the background of our life together. It's been there during the countless hours we spent in his room while we were dating, playing in the car where ever we go, cranked up at the house on the weekends, on repeat while Jeremy tries to perfect a riff.

So, it doesn't bother me. Actually, it soothes me. It brings back wonderful memories, it makes me feel at home, it lets me know that I just have to reach out and Jeremy is going to be right there.

ANTM: Cycle 15

ANTM Cycle 15 starts on Wednesday, Sept. 8. As I was watching the interview videos from each girl, taking notes, Jeremy looks over my shoulder and asks me if I'm taking notes on all the new models. Well, YEAH! How else am I suppose to make my snap first judgements? He thinks I'm cute. Now, on to the girls.

SARA. Occupation, Mother. That's all she will talk about. There is always one of them.
RHIANNA. The weirdo of the bunch. Fashionista that descends from models. Has a very vintage sense of style and refuses to shop in major department stores. Very hippy dippy..her occupation is world explorin', dance feverin', people lovin', wild child. OOokkkkaayyy then.
LIZ. Wants to be famous really bad but doesn't want to do a whole lot of work to get there. Her must have photo shoot accessory is her piercings...which means they are going to make her take them out. We'll shall see if she bends to their will or not. Also, she is very pretty in a very hard way. I mean she oozes edge. I don't think she can do soft pretty.
LEXIE. She is an artistic genius. Her favorite shoes are Toms. Sounds like my kind of girl.
KENDAL. Hey y'all..she's from Alabama! Beautiful girl but I'm already worried that her 'droopy' eyelids are going to make her look pissed off in every picture. Her must-have accessory on photo shoots is 'her man'. I think she will be sorely disappointed to find out that ANTM isn't going to fly him in for every photo shoot.
KAYLA. Another sporty girl..soccer player. Another modeling newbie. Not sure how she will do.
KACEY. She's a dance teacher from Cali. Very well spoken and seems friendly for now. She is terrified that they are going to buzz all her hair off...which probably means they will...and she will probably cry.
JANE. Lacrosse player. Very pretty. That's all I got, for now.
ESTHER. Who names their kid Esther? Very new to modeling. Speaks french. She thinks she is ready for whatever the show has to throw at her...wait until they want to cut her hair all off.
CHRIS. Sister of Terra. Very concerned about making it to the bottom two with her sister. Pretty full of herself. Thinks she knows about modeling..which probably means she doesn't have a clue. The attitude is strong in this one.
CHELSEY. Admittedly a ditzy blonde. She might rely too much on her pretty face.
ANN. She is 6'freakin2" which would explain why her favorite shoes are flats. A little awkward and new to modeling. Hopefully her lankiness won't work against her.
ANAMARIA. She is 19, unemployed, her must-have photo shoot accessory is herself, and she would never wear 'gangstah clothing'..which means she is going to be BFF's with Chris.TERRA. Sister to Chris..with a whole lot less attitude. Favorite shoes..converse. Admitted tomboy. She says she will tell you the truth..which probably means that she and her sister will go around 'telling people the truth' even if they don't ask. I predict a lot of smack talking in the bathroom and/or confessional room. And then one of them will get kicked off and it will be a big boo-hoo fest for whichever sister is left.

And I predict that the show takes the girls to France. *shrug* Just a feeling I have.
