Stitch Fix #3 and that's a wrap.

Well, this will be my last Stitch Fix box. It was fun and exciting to anticipate the arrival of my Stitch Fix. But the actual products being sent to me were leaving me slightly disappointed.

I did everything I could have done to convey what I needed from Stitch Fix. I kept my Pinterest Style board up to date. I sent feedback on each item. I adjusted my style profile and price point. And after three boxes, I feel like they were only half listening.

First issue...the items were just too expensive. I let them know that when I would checkout. To which I got a generic email from Stitch Fix suggesting that I update my price point in my profile. So I did before I received this last box. But the price point for my items didn't change. So, while I love the gray top and the distressed jeans and the cardigan. I couldn't afford to keep all of them. I can't spend $48 (which was the lowest price in the entire box) for one item. I just can't. Especially when I feel like I could get items similar for far less at a store here in town. I did end up keeping the cardigan from this box, which was $48, but only because I had a $25 credit that I could apply towards it (thank you, Vicki). At this point, I feel like the only way anyone could continue to use the service is if they work hard to get several referrals to offset the cost of the items (or if they have a lot of spare cash sitting around). And, honestly, I'm a sucky sales person on a budget.

Second issue...my style. I'm not sure how many times I mentioned that I didn't want items that I couldn't wear a normal bra with. But I know it was more than once. And yet they kept sending me items that have necklines and or straps that would require a strapless or converted bra. Listen, I know there are tons of women out there who do not have a problem with wearing a strapless bra or a bandeau or a cami with a "built in bra"..but I'm not one of them. I asked for statement necklaces, and the above is what they sent me. I'm not trying to say the necklace is ugly, just not what I was thinking of (which reflects in the Pin's I added to my Pinterest board). And again, the cost of that necklace doesn't match the size or quality of the piece. I asked for a kimono, for the last two boxes, but didn't get anything of that nature. I asked for a purse, possibly a crossbody, but didn't get any type of bag. And the two pair of shoes they sent me were really quite ugly compared to the styles I have seen Stitch Fix share on their social media accounts.

So, while it was fun for a minute, and I'm still glad I tried it, I sent my email to officially cancel my Stitch Fix account (you actually have to email them to fully cancel your account, by the way). I'm going to stick with shopping via Instragram boutiques.

Bold Stripe Stripe Top

I was able to splurge a little on myself in the last two weeks. I ordered my first stitch fix box, which is on it's way to me as I type. And I ordered this bold stripe stripe top from Flaunt Boutique (I follow them on instagram @flauntboutiquetx)

It did take two weeks to get to me, but when I inquired about the shipment they responded relatively quick and were super nice. The description says this top fits true to size,  Small:2-4 Medium:6-8 Large:10-12. I ordered a medium.

The first things I noticed when I took it out of the package was 1) the material is super soft but 2) heavy enough not to be sheer or see through (I'm wearing a purple bra under the top). When I held it up I thought it looked a little big to be a medium, but it is suppose to be a relaxed fit. And it is. I guess you would say this top is very flowy. Is that a word, flowy? Well it is now.

As a petite curvy girl, this top kind of breaks all the rules since it doesn't do a thing for my figure. But...I can't help but like it. The different colored stripes with the contrasting back are really cute. And I cannot deny that this shirt has 'comfy' written all over it.

I might try and order again from Flaunt Boutique, something not so flowy, to see how their sizing is. They have a super cute selection of clothing, so if you like shopping via instragram (like me), you should go check them out.

Is anyone still here?

Hi.

I'm Jinny. You may remember me from back in the day when I actually posted regularly to this blog. Work totally and utterly devoured my life for about four months. Most everything outside of work came to a screeching halt. But that doesn't mean that nothing has been going on.

So, let me get you all caught up.

The hallway project we started in March has finally come to a (almost) finish. It's down to painting doors, so I'm calling it finished.

We've started on the bedroom but it's going at a snails pace. Which is fine, we aren't on any time schedule here.

We spruced up our outdoor space. The café table and chairs was actually a surprise birthday present from Jeremy. I went out of town for a weekend and when I got home this was waiting for me. I cried, I was so surprised.

I've been out of town a few times. I went to a wedding in Austin. So, Kenedi, the bride, met my sister when they were both in college. This is how I met Kenedi. Eventually Kenedi ended up in San Marcos and started going to the same church that my cousin and her husband work at. So now Kenedi is practically part of the family so when she got hitched this summer we all had to be there.

I went to Canyon, TX to see Texas, the musical, at Palo Duro Canyon. It was a charter bus trip and my Grandma invited me to go (who says no to their Grandma? Not this girl). It was a fun trip and I had a good time spending the weekend with the ladies of my family. I'm very thankful that my aunt Gail didn't laugh at me while I had a death grip on her hand when the charter bus drove us down into the canyon. It was pretty hair raising.

Aunt Bev, Grandma, Great Aunt Lynette
My Mom and I went to Dallas to help my sister get her new apartment situated. She's lived in Dallas for many years now but this is the first time she has ever had an apartment by herself. After living with our cousin for years we have jokingly compared it to a divorce. I wasn't sure what she got to keep or what she needed to replace. So we went shopping and did manly things, like put together furniture.

We adopted a new family member! Ferguson, the fish. He's pretty low maintenance, doesn't make a peep, and doesn't need a lot of attention...no nail clippings or insulin shots, no grooming or heart guard meds, no walks or toys required. And he is pretty to look at.

We had to take Harley to get her teeth cleaned. I wouldn't even mention this but her recovery from the anesthesia and pain meds was unlike anything we've had to deal with before. If any of y'all have had to have a pet put under to have any type of work done, I'm sure you are familiar with the little speech the office people give you on the way out. "Keep them quiet", "They might not feel like eating", "They will probably be drowsy", etc. In the past, all of our pets have bounced back from being put under with ease, not even a hitch. But poor Harley girl, she's old and doesn't bounce like that. She couldn't walk, but she sure did try, and when she fell over she would just lay very still like 'I'm just going to stay right here'. She was the funniest little drunk kitty ever. But while it was funny, it was sad at the same time because we could tell her mouth was bothering her. They extracted 5 teeth and noted that there were others already missing. So now we call her Toothless.

So, you see, I haven't been a complete couch potato this summer (although there was plenty of couch wallowing). Overtime at work is easing off, for now, and I really hope to have more time to come back to this space. I've missed it.

My Saturday {In Photos}

1. Walmart. No picture. We HATE going to Walmart, but the weed eater we have only takes line that can bought there (so stupid). So we made a super fast dash in and out for some weed eater line.

2. Lunch. I love chick-fil-a!
I also love men with tattoos...yummy.

3. Oil Change. So boring, yet so necessary.

4. Grocery Shopping. We went all over the store looking for that HEB sauce. I wasn't leaving without my free sauce!

5. Brushed the dog. We had enough hair rolling around to make a third dog.

6. Bath time. Can you tell that this is one of Lola's favorite things?

7. I finally got to meet this little firecracker, Maggie. She was born on the 4th of July.
