A Girl in the Real World

Saturday afternoon snapshot.

Bed, not made.

Dogs, being lazy heads.

Laundry, wash-dry-fold-repeat.

Newspaper, skimmed over..not really read.

Laptop, lifeline.

Conversations At Home

Me: All these earthquakes are making me nervous.

Jeremy: Why?

Me: I don't know. I feel like the earth is gearing up for something big.

Jeremy: There are earthquakes all the time, its just the media trying to work everyone up. 2012 and all that end of the world bull crap.

Me: I'm not worried about it being the end of the world. No one can predict that.

Jeremy: Right. Besides I think when this world comes to an end, human beings won't exist anymore. Actually, I think human beings are going to be the end of human beings. We are going to destroy ourselves.

Thank Goodness it's Friday!

Play Along

1. One of life's most simple pleasures is     let me just show you:

2. People being selfish assholes makes me want to punch someone {specifically the selfish asshole}.

3. I like  my girlfriends because, they understand my sense of humor, roll with my mood swings, and talk trash with me.

4. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is a funny word.

5. If I had to choose one beauty product to use for the rest of eternity it would be a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen protection.

6. I'm happy that   I am so blessed.

7. I would never willingly sign up to play on a sports team. There are a lot of things I'm good at...team sports is not one of them.

You don't know me

Me: I'm going to take you back to work so I can have the car.
Jeremy: What are you going to go do?
Me: I'm going to print some photos at Walgreens and *shrug* I don't know, do some running around.
Jeremy: What kind of running around? Woman, I need to know how much money you are going to spend.
Me: I'm going to spend $1.82 on the pictures.
Jeremy: Oh, ok. I thought you were going shopping for clothes or shoes.
Me: Oh no, nothing like that.

*fast forward two hours, in which I killed time at Target while my photos were being processed. Such a good idea..right?*

Text/Me: Ok...so I AM shopping.

He doesn't KNOW me! Alright, maybe he does.

Future OOTD?

(This entire outfit is from Target..love that store)
Merona Cardigan {I couldn't find it on Target.com anywhere! It was $24.99)

I Ain't Ashamed

The electricity went out this morning, before the sun had come up. For a split second after everything went pitch black I had a thought,

'The crazy psycho killers are here to get us.'

Don't judge.

OOTD

My birthday purchases finally made their way to my doorstep. Anyone on my Facebook is aware of how closely I was tracking these packages. They might think I'm a little loony now...if they didn't already.

Thursday Randoms

1. Y'all..it is really hard to get back into the swing of things after a week vacation. Work is super boring, I am super tired, the gym is super gym-ee. UGH! Just one rough week and I am working for the weekend!!

2. I went to see a new hair stylist today. That's always a little nerve-racking. You just never know if you are going to..get along. I know that sounds strange..maybe. But I feel that its important to have some chemistry with your hair person. You should be comfortable enough to tell them exactly what you want and if they aren't giving it to you. The appointment went very well. I'm looking forward to seeing her again.

3. BANGS!

This is another reason to have a good relationship with your hair person. Good bangs take some finesse and quite a bit of up-keep. You don't want to be in a place of needing a bang trim and not being able to get into to see your normal hair person. Going to a walk in place is NOT an option for good bang maintenance. Trust me.

4. I've been obsessively checking the Fedex tracker to watch my weekend purchases. I want them to be here RIGHT NOW!

5. We've been going to the gym for two months now. The scale hasn't budged and my measurements have also not changed by much. But..I can still see and feel the difference. I have muscles! Just goes to show you that you can't always measure your success by the numbers.

6. I have to come to terms with the fact that not everyone is going to like me. Sometimes..I get lonely. My girlfriends live out of town. So, every now and again, I try to stick my toe in the water and make some new friends..or get to know someone better..and it doesn't always work out. Or it just never really goes further than a casual acquaintance.

7. Movies are on the agenda this weekend. Harry Potter? Or Conan the Barbarian? Shirtless Muscle Man might bet out Wizard Boy.

Just Jinny..On Vacation

Can I just tell y'all how much I hate driving to Dallas? It is a really, really boring drive..and it feels like it takes forever. So, to try to break up some of the monotony we took a round-about way and headed to Dublin, TX. We stopped to have an original Dublin Dr Pepper (in a glass bottle)

There was an old fashioned deli and gift shop {did you know you could buy Dr Pepper cake batter?}. You could take a tour of the bottling factory, we didn't take it. It was just a quick stop to stretch our legs and have a drink. Outside there was a huge sandcastle. I'm sure you could have watched it be built but it looked like it had been there for a while, although still in perfect condition.

I took over the driving from this point because I'd been eyeballing the map for days and knew where we were going up in the cray-cray Metroplex. I was so proud of myself because I did not miss ONE exit on all our different exchanges to get to the restaurant where we were meeting my sister and my bestie, Jonessa and her husband. However, finding the actual restaurant turned out to be a bit of a challenge. My STUPID GPS had us all turned around and sitting on top of a 'blue dot' that didn't exist. So, wild goose chase to end up in a 7-11 parking lot..which was NOT the restaurant. But, after a phone call to Jonessa, in which I spoke to both her AND her husband, we found our way to the restaurant.

Dinner was delicious. And it was great to see Jonessa {we try to at least have dinner..or brunch..or something..anytime I'm in town} and her husband. Just when I thought we would be getting our bill, the waiter brings out a box and plates. Jonessa had bought me a birthday cake. So, the waiter lit the one candle and everyone sang happy birthday{quietly..lol}.

Jonessa, Me, my Seester

I have to admit..I was not looking forward to the Mayhem Fest. Mainly because of the brutal summer we've been having. It was officially 105 on Wednesday. But, out in the middle of the concrete oasis that was the concert grounds it was probably more like 112. At least, that's what it felt like. We made it from 1:30 to 9:30, without passing out..or getting sun burnt. I call that a success! I couldn't possibly tell you about Mayhem Fest like the husband...so go and read about the event here {there are even more pictures}.

If y'all recall, my Eversave.com coupon giveaway...which was an epic fail, was for a coupon to a Plano area Sushi restaurant. My cousin was actually the "winner" (i.e. only one that entered) of that coupon, so on Thursday we went to lunch with her at Geisha Steak and Sushi. Let me tell y'all, if you live in or around this area and didn't enter my coupon giveaway..you missed out. We had a Queen roll {snow crab, avocado, cucumber, topped with yellowtail and jalapeno}, a Spicy Salmon roll, a Rainbow roll, and Tuna Sashimi. After the coupon was applied our bill was a whopping $13.00. And every single bite was wonderful. I'm craving it right now. MMMM....Sashimi. I would have taken pictures..but that would have required me to stop eating..and that wasn't happening.

The drive home was boring..and uneventful. We just wanted to HURRY UP and get back. Its nice to get away, but nothing beats sleeping in your own bed. And I slept like the dead.
