Bang Bang

I've done lots of different things with my hair over the years.

I've let it all grow out so long I could grab a hold of it by reaching behind my back (and I'm not talking finger tips either).

I've cut it so short that I had to have my neck buzzed with the clippers.

I've dyed it pink, blonde, red..highlights, lowlights.

No bangs and bangs.

Ah..bangs. What a wonderful pain in the ass style. I've been looking through old pictures and I don't think I would ever want to cut my hair as short as I had it..I like it long..but the bangs. The straight across bangs. They looked SO cute on me. And I am tempted. Very tempted..to do it again.

What do y'all think? My hair is mid-back by now and I would keep it about this length, but I'm thinking I want THIS again:

Obsession II: Camera Bags

I found these little gems from Shutter Sisters, a photography blog that I follow. The need for practical but fashionable camera bags is a valid one. I know what I want, and after looking around I have found there isn't a lot out there. But, this site has three different camera bags that are both great to look at and functional. I would love to own any one of them.

Epiphanie

I love how any of these bags have enough space to be both camera bag AND purse. I love how any of them can go from shoulder bags to cross-body bags. The colors of Belle and Lola draw me in..I love them.

And eventually, I'll probably own one of them. I was hoping to have it before Hawaii so that I can take my whole camera kit, but we shall see.

These are my obsessions..

My girl Jamie (Holla! Girl, you lookin' fierce with your too long bangs. Work it out!)listed some current obsessions on her blog. So, I thought I would list a few things I'm obsessing over right now too.

1. My Kindle. I ♥ it. We spend quality time with each other every night in bed. *wink*

2. Camera bags. Since my angel of a husband let me get the zoom lens I realized that I need a bigger bag. I googled it. Oh man, there are some really great ones out there. Style AND function. Sassy AND practical. I'm drooling. But the price is mellowing me out. Soon...very soon though..one shall be mine.

3. Mixing my browns with my blacks. It makes me feel like a little fashionista..even though I know I'm not. Julia, can you still be my friend?

4. The wrinkles on my face. I never thought I'd be so vain.

5. Hawaii anything. Because, hello! We are going to be there in 1 month, 1 week, and three days!

6. Writing. Or at least thinking about writing. I have folded up pieces of paper stuffed in my purse from getting an idea and jotting it down. A few poems that seemed to flow from my fingers. And story line ideas for my novel.

7. Jersey-knit dresses and cute sandals. Come on warm weather!

Forever

We pledged our forevers to each other that night
Under the twinkling midnight sky
No such words were spoken
But none were needed on that crisp fall evening
It was all in the wild beating of our hearts

I was barely seventeen, you were nineteen
What did we know of love or forever
Everything, it would seem
All we needed to know
Against our invincible youth the what if's could not stand

Years have blinked by
Time passing like a speeding train
Forever doesn't seem like so very long
Eyes still catch and hold
Youth did not steer us wrong

It's been twelve years since that evening
The night our words were carried away on smoke
To the very Heavens where God leaned down to hear
And still our hearts beat wildly
And still it is...forever.

Lurkers...front and center!

Hi there.

How've you been?

Listen, I love that you come to my blog and read all my stuff. But, I am very curious about you. I've always been drawn to the silent type *wink*. So, I've been thinking that maybe you could leave me a little comment. Right here. Right now.

I want to know how you found me. What made you come back for more? Is your face over there on the right hand tool bar as one of my followers (I love seeing all your faces over there)? Or do you follow me some other way? Are there certain posts that you enjoy more than others?

Are you a blogger? A mommy blogger? A weight loss blogger? A just for the hell of it blogger? I noticed one of my followers has a blog in a foreign language. German? Dutch? I don't know..I can't read it!! BUT, I did at least go for a visit.

I just want to pick your brains a little. Besides, I ~LLLLOOOVVEEEE~ getting comments. LOVE them.

SSSSooooo, drop me a note. I can't wait to hear from you.

** I'm cross-posting this on my every day blog, A Fat Girl in the Real World, because I want to hear from all my lurking readers **

Job Interview Fashion

My friend, Michelle, is gearing up to go on a job interview and we were discussing what to wear. I haven't had to go on a job interview in over 10 years. And back then I was 18..what did I know about professional interview clothing? Or professional fashion at all? Nothing, that's what.

So, I started thinking about what I might shop for if I had to go on an interview. I've always had problems with jackets and my arms so those are out for me. And skirts and I have a love/hate relationship. I'm short..and skirts are always, always too long or too full..or too something. I love them, but have a hard time finding any that look good on my frame..so they are out as well. After that, this is what I came up with:

Those Dang Kids!

As we were driving to the mall today, we stopped behind this little red four door car at a light. I wouldn't have even been paying attention to the car, or the people in it but the driver was waving their hands around as if dancing. So, my attention was drawn. The car was full, driver and three passengers. They were all young-ish..probably teenagers. And the driver was having a grand old time..so much so that the car swerved just a little as they took off at the green light.

I looked over at Jeremy and shook my head. "Kids," he muttered. But, it got me thinking about when I was that age. I started wondering how many times my friends and I were so wrapped up in whatever we were doing that we didn't notice the adults in the next car shaking their heads at us. I'm sure there were plenty. And one such instance came to mind.

And I can't believe I'm going to share it with y'all...because its embarrassing! lol.

Let me just pre-face this with the fact that I was very young. Well, old enough to drive so...16, maybe. My boyfriend, which might not have been my boyfriend at that time (you know we were together and then not together and then together), was hanging out at a friends house which was just a few blocks over from my house. For some reason I was so mad that he was over there...and not taking my calls..and not calling me back.

Like, OMG!

Actually, OMG wasn't even invented at the time.

I decided that I needed to go and drive by this guys house. Because, you know, the boyfriend should be able to FEEL me outside...right? RIGHT! I drove down the street a couple times..getting more and more irritated that they had, in fact, NOT noticed that I was driving by.

Stop laughing! I was young!!!! And apparently crazy. I had no idea at the time.

SO, I rolled down the windows and cranked the music. That was SURE to get those stupid boy's attention. And as I was speeding (yes, speeding..I won't say how fast...I was in my Mom's car and she reads this blog...HI MOM!) down the road I did get noticed but not by those stupid boys. Oh no, a neighbor who lived across the street was at the curb to get his mail. And as I screeched by he screamed into my window 'SLOW DOWN!!!' I had been so focused on the house that the stupid boys were NOT coming out of that I didn't even notice the guy until I heard him.

I was so embarrassed! I went straight home and hid in my room. The stinky boys never even knew I was out there. And the neighbor...well, I'm sure he walked back into his house shaking his head and muttering "Kids"!

What crazy thing did YOU do when you were a teenager?! Please, share and make me feel better!!

Time To Walk The Humans

Walking our dogs is always an adventure. It starts before we even get out of the house. They LOVE going on walks..or going anywhere really. Duke, the three legged dog, sits patiently in the living room for us to say the 'W' word. lol. And when we do, Lola, our little pug mix, goes into a frenzy of banshee screeches. Once we get them in their harness, it's straight for the front door....unless we have to go get the keys or put on a jacket...or just stand there holding onto the leash. Did I mention we have hardwood floors? The dogs get so excited that there is a lot of tippy-tapping, thowmping, and running in place (that's Lola..who always things she can get somewhere faster if she just RUNS).

That's all before we even get outside.

Our dogs pretty much walk us. Lola is full-steam ahead. She keeps her head down and chugs along so briskly that her little ears flop around. OR she loses her footing and falls on her face. And Duke, well, he LOVES to go on walks. He zig-zags this way and that...nose to the ground...nose in the air...nose on the mailbox. People actually stare at us as they drive by.

Today as we were walking we came across another couple walking their two chocolate labs. We fell in behind them on the same street. Lola is going CRAZY trying to make us gggoooo fffassstttter so she can meet those dogs up there. And Duke is whining, tugging on his leash. Jeremy says, 'Look at those dogs up there. Why can't y'all walk nice like that?' The dogs up ahead actually had slack leashes..which meant their people weren't having their arms tugged out of their sockets. I glance at our two mutts and back at Jeremy and say, 'Because we don't have two chocolate labs'. Jeremy sighs and says, 'Yeah, we're stuck with Spaz and Gimpy'.
