The red headed man with a witch for a wife

As we've been watching the Outlander series on Starz, Jeremy has found himself connected with the character of Murtagh. He is no nonsense, extremely loyal, has a robust disdain for all things froofy, and he likes to settle minor disagreements with a good punch in the face. Jeremy says, 'If only all disagreements can be settled that way. One punch and done.'

So, I updated my Facebook status with "Jeremy's spirit animal" and shared this photo:

And shortly after I received this text from him:

{insert a bunch of heart-eye emojis here} *swoon*

Sunday Funday V.1

First order of business, waking up. Can I get through one cup of coffee before someone needs me?

This stinker had an upset stomach all day long. She finally rested and had some dinner. She isn't allowed to do that again for at least another ten days.

I had to get my claws done before vacation. Can't go to the beach with ratchet toes.

Jeremy did a lot of manly things today. Even got on the roof.

We are counting down to the new season of Game of Thrones! Mantra for this season: "Must not love any of the characters". Will you be watching?

And they lived happily ever after

Hey gang, is everyone gearing up for Thanksgiving?! I hope you all have safe travels and a wonderful day with family and/or friends, with loads of delicious food (and maybe a little football thrown in). I know I'm ready for some sweet potatoes (my favorite).

Even though Thanksgiving is tomorrow, I'd like to talk about something Christmas related.

The Hallmark Channel. I love, love, love the Hallmark Channel's Christmas movies.

Stop laughing.

I am a hopeless romantic. And I love a happy ending. Two things that are satisfied with every single Christmas movie on the Hallmark Channel.

My husband gives me a real hard time about this. He will be in the kitchen, where he can't even see the TV, and can successfully predict what is happening on the screen simply by the music.

"Oh, I heard that music change...I bet they are kissing, aren't they?"

Yes, they are! Now shut up and let me watch my show.

Ok so, the movies can be just a teensy bit cliché.

You have your traveling fiancés, ending up spending Christmas with someone other than their current boyfriend...but turns out to be their TRUE LOVE.

You have the pet owners who fall MADLY IN LOVE.

You have the kid's Christmas wish {which usually involves a parental figure falling in love} MAGICIALLY COMING TRUE.

You have the small business owner overcoming the big corporate takeover, it's a CHRISTMAS MIRACLE {and finding love in the process...bonus points if it's the mean mugging executive from the corporation}.

I get it! They aren't very complex. There are no twists and/or turns. No cliff hanger endings. And you know what...I am good with that. Because in all the normal stress of the holidays (PLUS the added on social media stress from all the angry people out there), it's so nice to watch something that is simple, something that I don't have to think too hard about, something that is straightforward, something that makes me feel good...every.single.time.

So..watcha' watching?

So much good TV going on right now!!

And I'm not even talking about football season starting.

Have any of y'all caught the new Outlander series on Starz? Please say yes! If not, then you need to get caught up. So good. I listened to the Outlander series a long time ago, but details are fuzzy now (because there are LOTS of details) so it's almost like discovering it all brand new. Jeremy seems to really enjoy it too. A lot of history thrown in, if you like that sort of thing.

Sleepy Hollow is about to be back on. It feels like this last break took forever. I might have to catch us back up with some reruns from last season.

Hell on Wheels is rolling right along. This is one of our favorite shows (as in, we actually watch this when it comes on...and DVR anything else that happens to be on at the same time). It's pretty nitty-gritty..and makes me glad for running water and paved roads.

I'm trying to get into the new season of Doctor Who. New season, new Doctor. It always takes time to adjust to a new Doctor. I think at this point I'm enjoying the Doctor more than the companion, so I wish they would hurry up with the Clara leaving business. I mean, who tells the Doctor that he is just a hobby? No one, you silly girl.

I'd just like to say here that I am very disappointed that Almost Human was cancelled after only one season. Not happy.

Criminal Minds is about to start again too. It's a long time watch for me after I binged on reruns one afternoon years ago.

SSSSSoooo...what are y'all watching? Any new shows I need to DVR? What's on your must watch list?!

Rambling Woman

Hey.

I'm still on overtime. I've officially worked 115 hours of overtime since the first of May...and there is no end in sight. People keep reminding me of the paychecks. And those are nice, but I don't think they quite understand the utter exhaustion from not only being at work so much but also feeling like you aren't getting anywhere. Honestly, I'm doing some of the most jacked up work I've ever had to do in the whole 16 years I've worked for this company. It just feels like spinning wheels. I'd be less frustrated if I felt like I got things done during all those work hours.

I went to the gym for the first time in...well..I can't really remember the last time I went to the gym. I did a 45 minute Body Combat class. It felt good to be up, moving around. Seeing my under arms jiggle as I punched was sobering. I'm back at a place I swore I'd never be again..a place of my weight creeping up, a place of me mindlessly stuffing my face, a place of being uncomfortable in all my clothes. I don't want to be HERE. And I definitely don't want it to get worse. So, I have to do something.

Sorry if I'm rambling.

My sister moved into her first apartment all by herself. She's been moved away from home for years now, but up until now she's always had a roommate. She lived with our cousin for four years. Them moving on separate from each other is kinda like a divorce, I'm not sure what she got to keep. lol. So we've been window shopping together via text message and pinterest boards. I hope to get up there soon to help her get things on the wall and shop for the odds and ends. It's nice to know I'm needed for something.

But before I go up there she will be coming here (along with our cousin) for a Doctor Who viewing party. I can tell you with a straight face that I never, ever thought I'd be into Doctor Who. But on New Year's Eve Jeremy and I started watching Season Five and we just kept going. Now we have Dalek and Tardis pillows and we are eagerly awaiting the Twelfth Doctor. Do you watch Doctor Who? Will you be watching on Aug. 23?

Commercials that piss me off

1.

2.

I'm not trying to say that my marriage is perfect, we have our issues, but one thing we always avoid doing is being rude and ugly to each other. Both of these commercials seem to flaunt doing just that, being rude and being ugly to your spouse. And that really pisses me off.

All I can focus on in both of these commercials are the faces of the other spouses, the husband that was insulted by his wife and the wife that was dismissed by her husband. Makes me think about how I might feel if Jeremy were to act like that towards me. Well, the first one would never ever happen. We would never be so rude to each other (and words can't be taken back once they are spoken). But the second, Jeremy does admit that I can be long winded some time. I can't argue with that, but he at least is nice enough to continue to pretend to listen to me. And he never acts like its some monumental task to do so.

I know they are just commercials...maybe they are even suppose to be funny. However, they aren't funny to me. It just seems wrong to me to promote disrespectful behavior in a relationship.
But I guess they are right in line with the majority of modern TV programming, which is filled with people being rude, ugly, and disrespectful to one another.

When did this happen?

During the first several years of our marriage we did not watch sports on TV. No sports...of any kind. We just never were very into it. Jeremy didn't grow up in a house with football on the TV all day Sunday. I grew up in a house full of girls...we didn't watch football ever.

And then something happened.

Fantasy football happened.

My uncle has run the family league since the beginning. About four years ago Jeremy decided to play. Next thing I know Jeremy is glued to the TV every Sunday...Monday....sometimes Thursday. All of a sudden he has favorite players.

I still wasn't all that into it. It was just background noise.

And then something happened.

I started playing fantasy football too!

Now, we spend our Sundays in the living room watching football all day long. We talk about our fantasy teams and players. Jeremy has to explain to me what being offsides means....again. I'm yelling at the TV. I have favorite players.

Even though I'm new to this whole football fandom..I'm starting to understand a person's unfailing loyalty to their favorite team. I'm a Cowboys fan, all the way. I love one team, but hate no team. I won't talk smack about my Boys, but I won't talk smack about other teams either. Other people might like to do that..I'm not one of them. I am a fan. Of the game. And it IS just a game.

Games are suppose to be for fun. And I'm having a blast!

TV shows I watch

I don't watch a lot of TV. I've never really been into Gossip Girls, Entourage, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men, Gilmore Girls, Vampire Diaries, The Hills (or any of the original/spin offs), Jersey Shore...etc, etc.

There are only three TV shows that I watch faithfully:

1. America's Next Top Model "Reality" TV at it's finest...meaning there is nothing 'real' about it. The photo shoots and challenges are ridiculous. And Tyra's head is so big I'm surprised she isn't knocking over the other judges. But, it's ssssooo good! To see these crazy ass girls (all very pretty in their own ways) trying to live together and do their best on these far-fetched challenges is very entertaining.

2. The Biggest Loser I don't care if it's fake, rigged, actors for trainers..it's inspirational. At least, it always inspires me.

3. Destination Truth The crew is hilarious. My favorite parts of the show are when they are trying to actually get to their destination. The interaction with other cultures and their rental vehicle troubles have me laughing.

ANTM: Cycle 15

ANTM Cycle 15 starts on Wednesday, Sept. 8. As I was watching the interview videos from each girl, taking notes, Jeremy looks over my shoulder and asks me if I'm taking notes on all the new models. Well, YEAH! How else am I suppose to make my snap first judgements? He thinks I'm cute. Now, on to the girls.

SARA. Occupation, Mother. That's all she will talk about. There is always one of them.
RHIANNA. The weirdo of the bunch. Fashionista that descends from models. Has a very vintage sense of style and refuses to shop in major department stores. Very hippy dippy..her occupation is world explorin', dance feverin', people lovin', wild child. OOokkkkaayyy then.
LIZ. Wants to be famous really bad but doesn't want to do a whole lot of work to get there. Her must have photo shoot accessory is her piercings...which means they are going to make her take them out. We'll shall see if she bends to their will or not. Also, she is very pretty in a very hard way. I mean she oozes edge. I don't think she can do soft pretty.
LEXIE. She is an artistic genius. Her favorite shoes are Toms. Sounds like my kind of girl.
KENDAL. Hey y'all..she's from Alabama! Beautiful girl but I'm already worried that her 'droopy' eyelids are going to make her look pissed off in every picture. Her must-have accessory on photo shoots is 'her man'. I think she will be sorely disappointed to find out that ANTM isn't going to fly him in for every photo shoot.
KAYLA. Another sporty girl..soccer player. Another modeling newbie. Not sure how she will do.
KACEY. She's a dance teacher from Cali. Very well spoken and seems friendly for now. She is terrified that they are going to buzz all her hair off...which probably means they will...and she will probably cry.
JANE. Lacrosse player. Very pretty. That's all I got, for now.
ESTHER. Who names their kid Esther? Very new to modeling. Speaks french. She thinks she is ready for whatever the show has to throw at her...wait until they want to cut her hair all off.
CHRIS. Sister of Terra. Very concerned about making it to the bottom two with her sister. Pretty full of herself. Thinks she knows about modeling..which probably means she doesn't have a clue. The attitude is strong in this one.
CHELSEY. Admittedly a ditzy blonde. She might rely too much on her pretty face.
ANN. She is 6'freakin2" which would explain why her favorite shoes are flats. A little awkward and new to modeling. Hopefully her lankiness won't work against her.
ANAMARIA. She is 19, unemployed, her must-have photo shoot accessory is herself, and she would never wear 'gangstah clothing'..which means she is going to be BFF's with Chris.TERRA. Sister to Chris..with a whole lot less attitude. Favorite shoes..converse. Admitted tomboy. She says she will tell you the truth..which probably means that she and her sister will go around 'telling people the truth' even if they don't ask. I predict a lot of smack talking in the bathroom and/or confessional room. And then one of them will get kicked off and it will be a big boo-hoo fest for whichever sister is left.

And I predict that the show takes the girls to France. *shrug* Just a feeling I have.

Boo

I love ghost hunting shows. Love them. I watch Ghost Hunters. Paranormal State. Paranormal Cops. If it happens to be on, I'll watch Ghost Adventures.

I'm not a 'ghost hunter' myself. I don't feel any need to run around some creepy old building in the pitch black all night long. BUT, I'll gladly watch other people do it from the comfort of my bed. There is just something about the unknown. The chance of making a connection with the unseen.

However, I can't help but snicker when the music gets all dramatic and the green-lit scene is focused on the shower curtain. That's right, the shower curtain...cause we all know that ghosts like to hide in the shower..right? Right. So, the investigator moves closer. And a hand reaches out slowly and finally tears the curtain back....

and nothing is there.

I have to wonder why anyone would ever think that there would actually be SOMETHING behind the shower curtain.

I mean, I believe in spirits. I've never had any personal experiences, but I still believe. And I'm pretty sure that if one ever decides to make itself known to me it won't materialize in my shower.

ANTM: Recap

Catch phrase of the season? "I'm not mad at it". Both of the Jay's used it during the first hour of the premire. I tried looking it up on Urban Dictionary to help explain, but it's not listed. Imagine that. I wonder if it will be the next 'FIERCE'. The girls went right into their make-overs, which is unusual. They usually make them sweat it out for at least a few weeks. It's still too early in the season to really pin point their personalities, but I can say that some of my predictions might have been just a little off. Let's go to the pictures!

Ashley. I like her makeover, it makes her look younger. I had to crop the heck out of the last photo, and I hate that. It was edited long ways instead of up and down. She did a very good job of working it on a couch.

Bianca. Oh Bianca. Ok so, she isn't from the streets. The first clip of her solo interview was about how she is college educated and could have a conversation with Collen Powell. I thought 'uh oh, I was so wrong about her'. But her ghetto-ness could not be denied or contained. She gave us the first "I'm not here to make friends" (she probably couln't make friends even if she wanted to because of her stank ass attitude) and also the hissy about her 'makeover' which really wasn't a makeover at all. They bleached her eyebrows. Yep, that's it. And she complained about it, along with her makeup and outfit at the photo shoot. Are you freakin' kidding me? Models get paid to shut up and work it..not bitch and moan. She was in the bottom two and barely made it by. She better check herself.

Brittany. She goes brunette and can't keep her mouth shut. But she is proof that brains can be sexy, turns out she is a math whiz.

Courtney. Bless her heart. She hurt herself at a cheerleading event, broke her foot. So, she is hobbeling around with crutches and a boot. She isn't cheerleader bubbly, like I thought she would be. The judges are already commenting on her toned body. How exactly is she suppose to help that? She can't make herself LESS toned, not over night anyways. This just might spell her doom. The judges just love to take something that the girl really can't help and kick her off for it.

Erin. Girl is working the ice blonde hair. MAJOR! I don't really care for her photo. It's a little too stiff and flat for me. Only time will tell if she can kick it up a notch.

Jennifer. The asian cutie who likes to stick out her booty. lol. Her photo was great, she really stretched her body across the whole frame (again, I had to edit it..sorry). Smart for a shortie.

Kara. Welp, since Bianca is obviously going to be our mega-bitch..I don't know about Kara anymore. Just looking at these three photos though, I'm putting her on the short list. Something tells me she won't last. I don't know what it is exactly.

Laura. Laura is country! I mean country. She's from Kentucky and the girl cracks me up every time she opens her mouth. Totally not what I was expecting. I like her and hope she stays around.

Lulu. Still think she is adorable. She worked it out on her photo shoot. Love it.

Nicole. Not exactly hippy, but she is an odd duck. Supposedly her nickname when she was a baby was Bloody Eyeball. OOOOOOkkkk. Her quirky quietness might get her in trouble later.

Rachel. The makeover was spot on. I shall call her Bambie Jr. from now on.

Rae. I was right, nearly every sentence out of her mouth was about her baby and how she was going to suck it up. She didn't do the ugly cry, yet. She won this week and rightly so. The photo rocks and she was tortured with 8-inch on-pointe heels. Ouch!

Sundai. What did I say about the weave? She was swimming in it. The shorter hair do suits her better. But her photo was blah. She looked like she was about to pass out. Erin needs to let her borrow some of that tension.

Lisa. She was sent home last night. The outfit and balloons just seem to overwhelm her. And she looks really pissed about it.

Well, wasn't that fun?! My sister was texting me all night long. She use to come over on Wednesday nights and we would watch ANTM together. But now she is far away in Dallas, texting is the next best thing.
