Things That Annoy Me
“We're the phone company. We don't care. We don't have to.” ~ Lily Tomlin
It annoys me when someone calls to ask me for my help and while I am researching their problem they are carrying on a non-work relation coversation with the person sitting next to them....loudly...right into my ear.
Caller:'OOOhhh!! Look how cute she is. She's gotten so big. Uh-huh. Let me see the other one. Oh my goodness. They are both beautiful. Right, I know. HAH AHAH AHHAHAAAA'
Me: *rolling me eyes, trying to decide if I should interrupt or not*
She didn't even move her mouth away from the reciever to talk to this person. She could have been talking to me she was so loud and clear.
And I know that the interrupting shouldn't have been a debate in my head, but I'm just that type of person.
I should have just interrupted her and told her 'Hey, I don't got all day, princess..you talking to me? or you talken' to your friend over there?'

I hear ya...I hated customer service....HATED IT.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
Uh, yeah.
ReplyDeleteIn my line of work, it's people talking on their cell phones while I'm trying to check them out. They're just carrying on a conversation and I'm like, "Hello? Can I see your driver's license please???" (I really don't say that, but I feel like it sometimes!) I'm like you...I don't feel right interrupting.
But I so want to...
I'm one of those customers. I refuse to sit there silently waiting for someone to do their job. Sometimes it can take several minutes and with a family running around it's very hard for me to just ignore them, so if the person I'm dealing with has me waiting indefinitely, then yah, I will talk to my kids, husband, whatever. Now granted, I always cover the mouth piece of move the end up so I'm not talking directly into it, but yah, definitely not a sit and wait kind of gal. A lot of times we have to deal with reps, especially credit card company's, who don't give two poops about us or our situation and they're rude and condescending. That's been my overall relationship with people and I'm a really nice person mostly, so when I'm treated like that I'll talk even louder and won't care if they hear me or not. Sometimes I'll even say something about them or their behavior.
ReplyDeleteJust for the record, everyone, I wasn't speaking to a customer. It was another associate in a different center. She was working, just like I was working.
