Texas is big, REAL big. Where I live, in the very heart of Texas there are many people that have never ventured outside of Texas. Not for lack of wanting to, it just takes too long. It takes at least five hours (if not longer) to even hit the state line leaving from this town in ANY direction. That makes for a really long road trip to simply go one state over.
Texas is made up of 261,797 square miles. That means you could fit the state of Rhode Island into Texas 250 times. Actually the King Ranch alone is bigger than the state of Rhode Island.
We have the biggest state fair in the US. Although I have lived my entire live in this state I have never been to the state fair. I hear that there is a lot of very good to eat but bad for you fried foods. I have it on my list of things to do before I die. Maybe I will even work up the courage to take a spin on the ferris wheel (which is also the largest in the US).
We do everything big here in Texas. We have big hair because 'the bigger the hair the closer to Jesus'. We cheer big. We eat big. We fight big. We have big, BIG pride. Last and most important, we love big.
So, y'all come for a visit...ya hear?

I just love the fact that your first picture of Texas is "The Big Texan." There is a hotel there where my family stayed once, and my sister and I couldn't get enough of the saloon-like doors in each of the hotel rooms. I've been to the State Fair, though last year was my first visit, even though I live in Dallas!

ReplyDeleteI would love to visit Texas. I've never been to the Southwest. It sounds amazing. And we have a couple of really good friends there so I'm sure we'd get done big and right, the Texas way.
